Christian Mill Means Business

Christian Mill Business Park is growing and going places - the latest development at the successful Crownhill site is the building of 12 new units. Michael and Diane Hockin founded London & Westcountry Estates, the Plymouth - based commerical landlords, in 1993 after identfying a need in the market for commercial units for small to medium-size businesses within the City. Now 24 years on and next year celebrating its 25th anniversary in business, London & Westcountry owns and manages 28 business parks across the region and is delighted with Christian Mill's continued success. The site - wihich was named after Michael and Diane's son, Christian Hockin was converted to a business park after its purchase in 1997 and currently provides 85,000 sq.ft of space. It has undergone a major redevelopment from the old Clarks Shoe Factory which involved dividing buildings to create business units of various sizes plus re-branding with London & Westcountry Estates corporate colours. The naming follows a these the company has used throughout its history of using family names or those that have an historic association with the rea, such as Grace Mill in Plymouth that was named after the birth of a grandchild and Centurion Mill in Exeter to reflect the links with the Romans. Now 10 years since Christian Mill Business Park was purchased, London & Westcountry Estates are pleased to be progressing another new phase of its development. The new project is gathering pace as planning consent has been granted for 12 new units (two terraces of six) to be built on the rear of the site adjoining Brooklands Office Campus, using the spare land which has always been earmarked for development. The new units will create more than 20,000 sq.ft bringing the total floor area on site to 105,000 sq.ft. Christian Mill now has an established reputation as a popular and thriving commercial centre with many successful tenants. The latest extension of the site is perfect and allows London & Westcountry to cater for the large number of enquiries from potential tenants who require a variety of office, trade counter, storage or industrial space. At this stage, it is possible, within reason, to tailor, space in the new units to an in-going tenants requirement. Christian Mill Business Park has three large customer parking areas. It has easy access to the A386, which leads on to the A38, the mian road linking Plymouth to Exeter and the national motorway network. Ian Le Grice, Estates Manager says "With demand for units at Christian Mill remaining strong, this extension was vital and with our ability to react quickly to create individual units and construction expected to start soon, we hope to have our first tenants in occuption during spring / summer 2008". Interest from existing tenants or new tenants should be made to either James Hockin or Ian Le Grice.
